This year’s TEDxBowValleyCollege theme was Lagom: Life. Simply. Whether
we examine ecosystems, life cycles, or symbiotic relationships, the
natural environment is a perfect example of how beings can flourish,
with the right balance of simple elements. In his talk, S.T.E.P. It Up!,
Eugene Saldanha shares multiple experiences of hiking through the Rocky
Mountains, motivating us to push ourselves, and reconsider what we
think is possible. Eugene has been teaching humanities for over twenty
years and feels there is no better vocation in the world. He holds
degrees in Education and English, a Diploma in Financial Planning, and a
Creative Writing Certificate. Eugene believes strongly in community
service, and in 2005, the Mustard Seed Street Ministry nominated him for
Volunteer Calgary’s prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award. Eugene
loves literature and the outdoors! These two favourite pastimes give him a
sense of lagom.
