Breaking the cycle of injustice one bail at a time | Robin Steinberg | T...

Nearly a half million people are locked up in an American jail tonight because they can't afford a few hundred dollars for bail. The fastest growing population of those affected are women. The Bail Project's Robin Steinberg fielded a grand experiment to answer the question: what would happen if we paid their bail for them?
Robin was interviewed by the Executive Director of The Midwest Innocence Project, Tricia Bushnell. Robin Steinberg is the CEO of The Bail Project, a national organization modeled after The Bronx Freedom Fund, which she co-founded with David Feige in 2007. Steinberg is the founder and former executive director of The Bronx Defenders, a community-based public defense office serving low-income New Yorkers in the Bronx since 1997, and the director of Still She Rises, Tulsa, the first public defender office in the nation dedicated exclusively to the representation of mothers in the criminal justice system.
